The Torrance, CA-based supplier last year experienced not so much a leadership shake-up but a return to its family roots. Founder Joe Simsoly (who was working in other ventures) returned in late 2023 to serve as interim CEO, and in 2024 the position became permanent. In addition, son Eric Simsolo was promoted to president, and the company hired surf and skate apparel veteran Brett Björkman as COO. Simsolo says the company has shored up inventory flow and quality discrepancies from vendors as part of “a very conservative clean-up effort over the last 12 months that our team has done an amazing job on.” This year in May, Next Level Apparel launched a price-point friendly T-shirt that Simsolo says “is really the first style of what will be a nexus for a whole collection in a couple years’ time.”
