Webinar Recap: Connecting With Customers Using Video

Incorporating video marketing into your strategy is easier than you think.

Video content is one of the fastest growing marketing segments, and with the rise of user-friendly social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, it shows no signs of slowing down.

We broke down the benefits of adding video to your campaign in a recent webinar. In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights:

Why video should be part of your marketing plan:

  • Using videos on landing pages will increase conversions by 86%.
  • 90% of customers say video helps them with buying decisions.
  • Adding a video to a blog post increases traffic by 157%.
  • Product videos can increase purchases by 144%.
  • 64% of users are more likely to buy a product after watching its video.

How to create your own videos:

  • Any camera will work great, including your iPhone! Some equipment will help improve the quality of your videos however, including a tripod, selfie stick, light ring or other lighting source, microphone and editing apps.
  • Always consider your location when filming, including what’s in the frame, the lighting, the angle and the sound.
  • Consider whether you want to film your video vertically (best for Instagram or TikTok) or horizontally (best for YouTube or Facebook).
  • Be yourself on camera and share the video confidentially!

Examples of videos you can emulate:

  • Instagram (reels) – Share super-quick content, personal life updates or other easily digestible fare (under 1 minute).
  • Instagram (posts) – Perfect for real-time demos of your products (about 1 minute).
  • TikTok – Mix lifestyle content with promo while mixing in graphics, captions and/or music (under 1 minute).
  • YouTube – Get more in-depth with your promos with personal stories, conversations/interviews or demos (longer form; 3-10 mins).
  • The Joe Show – Model Joe’s style to showcase sample products and their potential uses (about 4 minutes).

Avoid these common mistakes:

  • Using a poorly lit or untidy location
  • Poor framing
  • Rambling dialogue/not sticking to your script
  • Not being yourself
  • Not getting started in the first place!
