The Bright Side: Nassau Candy Helps Raise $1.5M To Support Children With Cancer

The parent company of Counselor Top 40 supplier NC Custom and its founders were honored at Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island’s golf outing for their support.

Nassau Candy, the parent company of Counselor Top 40 Supplier NC Custom (asi/44900), helped raise a record $1.5 million for Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island through the charity’s golf classic earlier this month.

Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island is a branch of the national Sunrise Association, which creates free day camps, year-round programming and in-hospital activities to support children with cancer and their siblings.

Shirley Stier represented the Stier family with remarks during Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island’s golf classic fundraiser earlier this month.

Nassau Candy and its founders, the Stier family, are longtime supports of the organization. Shirley and Les Stier, CEO of Nassau Candy, first learned about Sunrise Day Camp through friends and family who were involved. They were moved by the organization’s mission of providing children with cancer a shot at a normal childhood experience like summer camp.

“My parents were inspired to be involved in a local initiative like this, where we could touch a lot of local families,” said Lance Stier, their son and the CEO of NC Custom. “That’s why we found it very special.”

As part of sponsoring this year’s Annual Mildred & Samuel Levine Memorial Golf Classic in support of Sunrise Day Camp – Long Island, Les wanted to exceed the organization’s fundraising goal for the event. Lance said his parents rallied both their family and the company over the past several months to build support for the organization and to raise funds ahead of the event, ultimately aiding in achieving the record $1.5 million tally.

Nassau Candy, and the Stiers, were honored for their sponsorship of the event and their fundraising efforts, with Shirley speaking at a dinner on the importance of giving back as a company and the power of camp for a child.

The money raised will go toward running the camps and continuing to allow children with cancer and their siblings to attend for free. It costs about $6,000 for a child to attend a day camp for the summer.

NC Custom, the promotional products division of Nassau Candy, ranks 22 on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry, with $85 million in reported 2023 North American promotional products revenue.
