Will Promotional Products be Delivered by Drones in the Future?
Brandon Mackay SnugZ/USA (asi/88060)“Yes they will. Drones will also be used someday to pick inventory and do simple programmable tasks.”
Norm Hullinger alphabroder (asi/34063)“Operational challenges like weather will preclude drones from ever being a true delivery alternative.”
Jill Albers Shumsky (asi/326300) “Yes and I hope it’s tomorrow. Shipping already takes too long. Imagine if we could ship from the factory to the show floor in hours.”
CJ Schmidt Hit (asi/61125)“I don’t think we would ever use drones, as we normally ship in bulk in larger packages.”
Larry Cohen Axis (asi/128263) “We’re right on the bleeding edge of the drone delivery experiment. I can see how it would be helpful for deliveries to remote areas.”
Mark Ziskind CSE (asi/155807)“Until drones are more cost effective than UPS or USPS, I would have to say no.”
Amazon Proposes Drone Highways
- An Amazon executive recently outlined an automated drone traffic management system that would set up specific areas for flight.
- Drones equipped with collision-avoidance technology would be able to fly in a high-speed zone between 200 feet and 400 feet. Less sophisticated drones would be restricted to below 200 feet.
- The proposed management system would allow one person to oversee many automated drones over significant distances.
- To date, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved nearly 1,000 operators to use commercial drones in the U.S.
