Social media expert Randi Zuckerberg advises and inspires eager entrepreneurs

TREVOSE, PAMay 10, 2012 – The three-day ASI Show in New York City closed Thursday after delivering a powerhouse networking event to about 2,300 distributors and 310 exhibitors, who showcased the hottest new promotional products in the industry.

The New York show May 8-10 at the Javits Convention Center drew distributors from more than 1,150 firms from 38 states, including companies as far south as Virginia to as far north as New York and New Hampshire, and 11 different countries.

Peter Zeiger, from Geiger (asi/202900), summed it up well: “Geiger is so excited to be at ASI New York and benefit from all it has to offer, including great educational workshops, lots of networking and an amazing show floor. Having access to the newest products for the later part of the year is so important for our team. They have been able to talk with leading suppliers and find new ways to make more money.”

Lorenz Hassenstein, vice president and general manager of The ASI Show, said, “We love serving our membership in the Big Apple, and it’s clear from the response we got from distributors and suppliers that the economic rebound is gaining momentum. The event had great energy and everyone is ready to take full advantage of all the opportunities available to them.”

“On the heels of a great event, we are thrilled to announce that the 2013 ASI Show New York will be held in the North Pavilion of the Javits Center,” said Karen DiTomasso, vice president of sales for The ASI Show. “The spacious, bright and inviting space has received rave reviews from many leading trade shows. This, along with an expanded education program, including a fashion runway show and next year’s keynote – Buddy Valastro, star of TLC’s hit show ‘The Cake Boss' – has the industry anticipating a great 2013 event. ASI New York 2013 is already 78% sold out.”

Participating suppliers made important business connections and left with new sales opportunities. “The traffic at ASI New York has been great,” said Tommy Lee, from Logomark (asi/67866). “In fact, I’m wishing I brought some more people to work the booth.” Michael Leone, from Hit Promotional Products (asi/61125), added, “ASI New York has been terrific. We have been so busy. There are so many great distributors at this show.”

The ASI Show in New York opened Tuesday with a full day of education (sponsored by Fields Mfg., asi/54100), including educational seminars and workshops offering credit toward the ASI Certification Program.

The black-tie Counselor Awards – the industry’s most prestigious and anticipated awards event – was held Wednesday night at Cipriani 42nd Street restaurant. Kevin Lyons-Tarr, the president of 4imprint (asi/197045), the largest e-commerce operation in the industry, was honored as Counselor’s 2012 Person of the Year. Garry Hurvitz, president/CEO of Toronto-based Counselor Top 40 supplier Ash City Worldwide (asi/37143), was recognized as Counselor International Person of the Year.

In her keynote Thursday morning, Zuckerberg said social media works best when it’s used to connect with, respond to and flatter people.
