PPEF Awards Jayne Emoff Miller Scholarship
The Promotional Products Education Foundation (PPEF) has awarded Kyle Obly of Aurora, OH, the Jayne Emoff Miller scholarship.
Obly was selected to receive the $1,000 scholarship by PPEF members after a competitive application process. Obly is an incoming freshman at Ohio University where he plans to major in journalism and double minor in sports management and broadcasting.
“Coming from a family of triplets sure has been a blessing, but financially with college it’s a struggle,” Obly said. “With your generosity of this scholarship it will help my family achieve our educational goals.”
Obly’s interest in sports reporting sparked at an early age. At 11, Obly created a fan account on Instagram about Cleveland Browns’ Joe Haden that amassed over 5,000 followers and even caught the attention of Haden himself. “From that point on, I realized my passion for the world around sports and its players was something I wanted to pursue for a career,” Obly said.
The Jayne Emoff Miller scholarship was established in 2016 by Michael and Anita Emoff. Miller was the second-generation owner of Shumsky (asi/326300), in Dayton, OH. Miller was a part of Shumsky for over 40 years – selling, leading and molding teams using skills that she developed from a combination of mentoring she received from her parents, trial and error, industry education, and her peers.
“The opportunity to continue making a difference in young people’s lives, such as Kyle’s, would make my mother immensely proud and humbled,” said Michael Emoff, Miller’s son and chief vision officer of Shumsky. “With the Jayne Emoff Miller scholarship, we can continue to honor my mother and her legacy in the promotional industry and our community.”
The PPEF provides college scholarships to promotional products industry employees and their children. This year, the organization awarded $230,000 in scholarships.
