I Earned My BASI: Ken Manship

Ken Manship is the director of product development and print at Next Products, a division of Williams Industries Inc. He has more than 25 years of experience within the printing industry, and his knowledge includes corrugated displays, POP, labels, web, sheet-fed and large-format printing. He volunteers his time to help the Printing and Image Technology students and program at Central Vocational Technical School; this is where he discovered printing, and he enjoys giving back to help empower and better the next generation. He earned his BASI in July 2016.

Who in the business world do you admire most or strive to emulate?
Marcus Lemonis

If they made a movie about your life, what would it be about and what actor would play you?
The movie’s plot would be about overcoming personal tragedy, with Vince Vaughn playing me – even with tragedy, you still have to learn to laugh and have fun.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Everyone makes mistakes; it’s what you learn from those mistakes that ultimately determines one’s success or failure.

What’s one thing you’d do to improve the ad specialty industry?
More collaboration. People are too scared to work together based upon what they might lose instead of what they might gain.

What’s on your business and personal bucket list?
Complete the MASI and hike the Appalachian Trail.

What’s one sentence you’d like to hear from your boss?
“Great job. You really do make a difference; I’m glad you’re on my team!”

If you could choose an age to remain forever, which age would you choose? Why?
“Thirty-five to 40 would be a great age range to remain because you’re rather young and healthy, while still having lived long enough to have gained wisdom and experience.”

What would you do with your “15 minutes” of fame?
Try to make the world a better place.
