Gubernatorial Candidate Raising Money With Fidget Spinners
Politicians are no strangers to using unique promotional items to fund their campaigns. Just take a look at last year’s race for the White House and you’ll find all kinds of peculiar products, from Jeb Bush’s guacamole bowl, a.k.a. the “Guaca Bowle,” to Hillary Clinton’s drink koozie called the “Chillary.” Late-night host Stephen Colbert even did a hilarious segment on some of the more unusual campaign merchandise available.
But that was then, and this is now. And right now the promotional products industry is being set ablaze by demand for the must-have product of the year: fidget spinners. And everyone – including politicians – is jumping on the bandwagon.
Tennessee Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd is one.
For a $5 donation on his website, you’ll receive a red fidget spinner toy with the candidate’s logo emblazoned in the center. The description? “Spin with this summer’s hottest toy printed with the Randy Boyd for Governor logo in classic red.”
Hottest toy indeed.
We won’t know until the November 2018 elections whether the promotional fidget spinners actually help the prospective governor get elected, but so far it seems to be getting him some attention.
You better believe I just bought a Randy Boyd fidget spinner. https://t.co/hJbpxT5xwz pic.twitter.com/9Y05SBnoLV
