ASI is urging everyone in the promotional products market to be on alert for potential scams after a small handful of suppliers were targeted by thieves posing as distributors and using stolen credit cards and, in one instance, a stolen ASI number, to place orders.  

In order to avoid compromising ongoing law enforcement investigations, ASI is not releasing all details of the scams but suggests suppliers be suspicious of large orders, especially for blank goods, that need to be shipped immediately – since that might indicate they don’t want a stolen credit card to be identified before the products ship.

ASI encourages all suppliers dealing with unfamiliar distributors to conduct due diligence, which includes verifying they have a credit history through ASI Connect, a prospecting tool that offers accurate and up-to-date credit info and demographics on industry distributors.
