Cintas, 3M Named to Forbes’ List of Canada’s Best Employers

The list of 300 firms includes companies with at least 500 employees in Canada.

Industry Leadership: More than 40,000 Canada-based employees were surveyed about salary, flexibility, training programs, career mobility and the likelihood of recommending their employer to peers. Cintas and 3M ranked 190th and 195th, respectively, on the list of 300 firms.

Two major corporations with strong ties to the promotional products industry have been recognized for their positive work environments in Canada.

Counselor Top 40 distributor Cintas (asi/162167) and 3M, parent company of Top 40 supplier 3M/Promotional Markets (asi/91240), have been named to Forbes’ 10th annual list of Canada’s Best Employers. The 300 firms on the list represent a myriad of industries, including education, information technology, government services and utilities.

At 190th place in the rankings is Cintas. While the Ohio-based multibillion-dollar corporation is best known for its uniform rental and facility services business, Cintas is also one of promo’s largest distributors. The company has Canadian operations based in Mississauga, ON.

Meanwhile, St. Paul, MN-based 3M, at 195th place, has operations in London, ON. A publicly traded multinational conglomerate with approximately $25 billion in annual revenue, 3M’s business focus includes consumer goods, healthcare, worker safety and promo products. 

Forbes worked with market research firm Statista to survey over 40,000 Canadian employees at companies with at least 500 workers in Canada. Respondents were asked about salary, flexibility, training programs, career mobility and the likelihood of recommending their employer to peers.

With estimated 2023 North American promotional product revenue of $218.6 million, Cintas ranked 13th on Counselor’s most recent list of the industry’s largest distributors.

3M/Promotional Markets ranked 17th on Counselor’s most recent list of promo’s largest suppliers, with $108.8 million in reported North American promo revenue in 2023. In recent weeks, 3M announced that CEO Bill Brown will also become chairman of the board on March 1. Michael F. Roman, retiring chairman and former CEO, will be an executive advisor until May 1.
