Atlantis Headwear’s Parent Firm Achieves Key Sustainability Certifications
The GOTS and GRS certifications aim to define globally recognized requirements to ensure the organic and/or recycled status of textiles.
Some talk a good game when it comes to advancing sustainability efforts.
Master Italia SpA, parent company of supplier Atlantis Headwear (asi/37380), is continuing to take action.
The Italy-headquartered public benefit corporation announced that it recently obtained the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) product certifications.
The goal of these certifications is to define globally recognized requirements to ensure the organic and/or recycled status of textiles, from harvesting raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way up to labeling.
The certifications aim to help ensure soup-to-nuts ethical and planet-friendly operations while providing credible assurance to customers that such responsibility efforts are valid.
“Achieving GOTS and GRS certifications underscores our dedication to sustainable practices and responsible manufacturing,” said Federico Pasini, vice president of Atlantis Headwear. “It’s another step in our mission to lead the industry toward more eco-conscious choices.”
Master Italia transitioned into a benefit corporation earlier this year. In 2024, the company also became part of the community of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to advocating and fostering the concept of a circular economy.
Master Italia, which offers sustainable caps and beanies made of recycled materials in North America through its Atlantis Headwear line, has crafted a comprehensive action plan for its Italian headquarters to help guide it to becoming “fully sustainable” by 2025.
Other steps the firm has taken to increase the sustainability of its operations and products include sponsoring a biodiversity oasis to preserve pollinators, preserving a forest near the firm’s headquarters and performing life cycle assessments for several of its products.
