Headquartered in Shelbyville, TN, Goldstar already sold in the North American and European promotional products marketplaces. The acquisition now takes Goldstar into Australia and New Zealand.
“We’re thrilled to welcome globalcatalogue to the Goldstar family,” said Heather Smartt, global head of Goldstar and a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of the promotional products industry’s most influential people. “This collaboration presents an exciting opportunity for us to work together, making global business easier and aligning with our goal to support more distributors worldwide.”
Founded in 1981, globalcatalogue is based in Sydney. The firm’s Daniel Derofe will continue as general manager. “We’ve built something special at globalcatalogue, and this next chapter with Goldstar takes it to the next level,” Derofe said. “There’s so much potential ahead.”
Goldstar elaborated that the strategic acquisition enhances product accessibility for distributors worldwide. It’s a boon too, of course, for Australian and New Zealand distributors in particular, bringing to market a wider selection of writing instruments, stationery, drinkware, bags and other products that are backed by what Goldstar described as faster service and streamlined fulfillment.
“With enhanced resources and quick turnaround times in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, Goldstar is well-positioned to support growing demand and deliver a seamless ordering experience,” the firm said in a statement. “By combining Goldstar’s expertise with globalcatalogue’s deep local roots, the partnership paves the way for new opportunities and a more connected global industry.”
Overall, Goldstar now operates across North America, Europe and Oceania. Within Europe, the company is also expanding its footprint into Italy, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, Smartt said.
Based on reported 2023 North American promotional product revenue of $65.1 million, Goldstar ranked 28th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry. Counselor Top 40 distributor Cimpress owns Goldstar, along with other sizeable players in the print and promo spaces, including Vistaprint, former Top 40 distributor National Pen, Print Brothers and The Print Group.
Goldstar has been busy of late making moves. Within the last year, Smartt became the firm’s new global leader, the supplier launched a fresh brand identity, and a partnership with drinkware brand Ocean Bottle (asi/74713) was announced. In 2025, Goldstar came to market with a new collection that includes products made from recycled stainless steel, recycled aluminum, Repreve recycled polyester and other alternative materials.
Goldstar also debuted a new glassware collection this year and recently hired Cathy Yonek as director of global digital experience. Smartt has proved a sought-after industry speaker, appearing on panels at the ASI Power Summit in October 2024 and CTCO in France earlier in 2025.
