Storm Creek Now Shares Upcycled Bottle Count Tied to Every Order

The apparel supplier includes the information on invoices and shipping notification emails. Storm Creek has also debuted Sustainability School, which offers eco-focused education.

Storm Creek (asi/89879) has launched a new sustainability initiative that quantifies the eco impact of every order.

The Eagan, MN-based promo apparel supplier is now providing the number of upcycled bottle counts per order on invoices and shipping notification emails.

In announcing the offering, Storm Creek pointed to a recent example in which 9,346 bottles were upcycled. The tally comes from the number of bottles repurposed to produce the goods in the order.

With the bottle count figures, distributors and end-buyers can now prove and emphasize the environmental impacts of the branded apparel purchases, executives said.

“As an outdoor-inspired apparel company, we are proud of our efforts to protect and support the environment through product innovations and conscientious sourcing practices,” said CEO Teresa Fudenberg. “Being able to quantify and share with customers and end-users how their Storm Creek purchases deflect plastic from oceans and landfills takes it even one step further.”

‘Sustainability School’

In other green-themed news from Storm Creek, the supplier said it has debuted Sustainability School, which offers environmental-centered education through webinars, speaking engagements and content, as well as an Eco Quiz that companies can take to test the depth of their sustainability knowledge.

“More and more companies are seeking to offer their employees responsibly made, high-quality products that last longer and are actually worn by their teams, thus building brand awareness,” said Fudenberg. “But not all companies are aware they can easily take part in alleviating the massive ocean plastic problem and fast-fashion waste issues.”

480 billion plastic bottles
are used worldwide in a single year, and less than 9% of plastic is recycled, Storm Creek says.

Broader Eco Efforts

Back in 2016, Storm Creek embarked on a sustainable sourcing initiative. The company, which specializes in outdoor and lifestyle apparel, said that every style in its 2023 Everyday Eco catalog is made using upcycled materials, sustainable practices, water conservation and no harmful chemicals.

“The world’s plastic problem is enormous, with plastic drinking bottles being the third most common type of item found washed up on shorelines,” Storm Creek said in a statement.

The supplier also cares about people and their working conditions. Storm Creek said it has ensured that all its factory partners are certified by the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production and Business Social Compliance Initiative promos. A WBENC-certified woman-owned business, Storm Creek is a 1% for the Planet partner and a Minnesota Keystone Program member, with a goal of donating $5 million to charity by 2030.
