St Regis Acquires The Book Company’s Journal Division

The move adds almost 200 products to St Regis’ product line.

The St Regis Group (asi/84592; Canada, 84595) in Itasca, IL, has acquired the journal division of Delray Beach, FL-based The Book Company (asi/41010). Financial details of the transaction were not released. Promotional product distributors in the U.S. and Canada can now purchase journals previously available from The Book Company, including its Eccolo and Shinola products, from the St Regis Group.

The Eccolo Lyric Journal (TBC419) comes in three colors and includes a matching click-action pen.

“We couldn’t have found a better home for our incredible journal line,” said Missy Kilpatrick, vice president of business development for The Book Company, in a statement. Kilpatrick will join St Regis and continue building the journal product category from her Florida office.

“Missy and the team at The Book Company have done an incredible job for over two decades in building and promoting their premium range of journals,” said Richard Firkser, president and CEO of St Regis, in a statement. “The addition of these premium journal brands to our ever-expanding line of pens and stationary products will cement St Regis as a leader in this exciting category.”

Guy Malk, chief marketing officer for St Regis, said the move brings in almost 200 new SKUs to St Regis’ line. “We’ve continued to grow our writing instruments and stationery product categories over the last few years, and this opportunity to expand our journal line came at the perfect time,” he said. “We recently launched Hugo Boss branded executive journals and portfolios, and the addition of Eccolo and Shinola gives us the ability to offer a complete range of products and price points within this exciting category.”

St Regis now carries luxury hardcover journals (TBC470) made in Detroit by Shinola.

Malk added that St Regis has already created journal and pen gift sets, which has essentially doubled the product line. “We’re looking to create even more new gift sets with these fantastic journals in the future,” he said.

St Regis also operates a location in Markham, ON.
