S&S Canada Opens New Facility in Calgary

The move allows the supplier to better serve customers in Western Canada.

Anjou, QC-based S&S Canada (asi/90703) has relocated its Alberta operations to a new 75,000-square-foot distribution center in Calgary. The move will allow the supplier to keep up with demand from customers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as inventory and sales volume increase.

“This new facility quadruples our warehouse space in Calgary,” said Mike Mannucci, vice president of operations for Top 40 supplier S&S Activewear (asi/84358), in a statement. “That means we’ve significantly increased our inventory levels and overall product offerings. We can provide quicker service to our customers and get them the products they need on time, which is always our top priority.”

Illinois-based S&S Activewear acquired Technosport Canada in December 2019, including the company’s locations in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec, and cited Technosport’s strong distribution network and focus on retail brands as two reasons for the purchase. Technosport Canada became S&S Canada nine months later and announced plans to expand its operations in Alberta.

“This new building is exactly what we need to support the 2021 collection we’ve been putting together over the past few months,” said S&S Activewear’s Chief Operating Officer Frank Myers, in a statement. “Not only can we now offer new products, but we’ve also more than doubled the current SKU offering, giving our Western Canadian customers better access to all our best-selling items.”

The company says it will be keeping all existing staff and plans to fill more than 40 jobs in the near future to keep up with inventory and delivery demand.

“This is a great milestone for the company,” said S&S President Jim Shannon, in a statement. “We’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished in just one year’s time, and we’re also grateful that we’ve been able to both maintain employment and create new jobs for Canadians during a time of economic uncertainty.”

With 2019 North American promotional products revenue of $1.3 billion, S&S Activewear ranks third on Counselor’s most recent list of the 40 largest suppliers in the industry.
