Product Safety Alert: Disney Recalls ‘Forky’ Toy
Disney, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall on Forky – a plush toy version of the character of the same name from the popular Toy Story 4 movie.
The CPSC said that Forky’s “googly” plastic eyes can detach. That poses a choking hazard to children, but no incidents or injuries have been reported.
“Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children,” the CPSC said.
Officials said 80,000 Forkys sold in the U.S. Another 650 retailed in Canada. Costing about $20 each, the toys were sold at Disney stores, Disney theme parks, online at shopdisney.com and through the Disney store on Amazon Marketplace from April 2019 through June 2019.
The Forky plush toy under recall has poseable arms, a base, rainbow screen art on top of one foot and plastic rolling “googly” eyes. The eyes are comprised of three parts: a white plastic base, a clear plastic dome, and a small black plastic disc within the dome, representing the pupil. The tracking code information is included on the sew-in label attached to the base of the toy.
Dream International Limited, Co. of Hong Kong manufactured the faulty Forkys. Burbank, CA-based Disney Merchandise Sourcing & Distribution imported the toys.
People affected by the recall can return their Forky to a Disney retail location, Walt Disney World store, or Disneyland Resort theme park retail store for a full refund.
