Spector & Co. Welcomes Jamie Mair

The industry veteran, who was most recently an executive at Top 40 distributor BDA, was named chief growth officer.

Montreal-based Top 40 supplier Spector & Co. (asi/88660) welcomes Jamie Mair as the company’s chief growth officer. The appointment marks another phase in the expansion of the supplier’s executive management in North America.

“We’re excited Jamie has joined our team,” said Rob Spector, CEO of Spector & Co., in a statement. “As a past client, he brings a unique perspective and understanding of the supplier, distributor and end-user dynamic, which will help us create more tailored products, and customized services and solutions for our distributor partners.”

Most recently, Mair was a marketing executive at Top 40 distributor BDA (asi/137616) in Woodinville, WA, after BDA acquired SwervePoint, a distributorship Mair co-founded, in 2017.

“Rob and I have worked together and have been friends since 2005,” said Mair in a statement. “Spector & Co. was an incredibly supportive partner to SwervePoint when we were getting started. The team of people and the culture at Spector were what initially attracted us to them all those years ago. Rob and I have visited factories together in China, attended numerous industry and sporting events together, and we’re both in [Young Presidents’ Organization, a global community of chief executives], so we have a long history and a high level of trust already.”

In April 2018, Spector & Co. was acquired by private equity firm Blue Point Partners, which operates offices in Cleveland, Charlotte, Seattle and Shanghai. The company has more than 20 years of experience partnering with companies in the lower-middle market, and typically invests in businesses that generate between $20 million and $300 million in revenue.

“As a growth partner and facilitator of transformative change, Blue Point and the board are optimistic about the strategic opportunities for Spector and Co.,” said Jeff Robich, a Blue Point principal, in a statement, “and we’re happy that Jamie has come onboard.”

With $50 million in 2018 North American promo products revenue, Spector ranks 36th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
