Genumark Earns B Corp Certification

The Toronto-based Top 40 distributor joins a growing movement of industry companies being recognized for their commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

Top 40 distributor Genumark (asi/204588) is ready to do its part to address societal challenges. To that end, the Toronto-based promotional products firm has been officially certified as a B Corp.

A growing number of promo companies have been seeking out the designation, which recognizes companies that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Lab, the nonprofit that assesses companies, has certified more than 6,000 B Corps from 150 industries across 80 countries.

“Achieving B Corp certification has been a top goal for our company as we seek to expand on our sustainability and community commitments,” said Mitch Freed, CEO of Genumark and a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of the most influential people in promo. “Our team has been working diligently for years to make this a reality, and this certification represents a very proud moment for all of us at Genumark.”

As a B Corp, Genumark says it will measure and manage the impact of its business on its workers, community and the environment with as much rigor as it manages and monitors its profits. B Corp certification is holistic and not exclusively focused on a single social or environmental issue; the process to achieve and maintain certification is rigorous and requires engaging teams and departments across an entire company.

“This certification is a testament to our mission to be a force for good and expand how we measure success,” said Elizabeth Wimbush, vice president of supply chain and sustainability. “We are thrilled to join the growing B Corp community of like-minded businesses, enabling us to increase the positive impact we can have in the world.”

Earlier this month, supplier Chameleon Like (asi/44558) became a B Corp, and in September 2022, Brand Fuel (asi/145025) earned its B Corp certification. Other distributors to earn the distinction in recent years include EcoPlum (asi/185835), Full Line Specialties (asi/199688), Harper + Scott (asi/220052) and McCabe Promotional Advertising Inc. (asi/264901). The Do-Gooders Directory on ASI Media’s Promo for the Planet page lists other industry companies that have B Corp certification, along with various giveback programs, charitable initiatives and sustainability certifications they’ve attained.

With 2021 North American promo product revenue of $42.4 million, family-owned Genumark ranked 37th on Counselor’s most recent list of the top distributors in the industry.
