Dotty Silber made her mark.

From winning awards in the promotional products industry and giving back to her community, to supporting the arts and being a beloved “Bubbe” to her grandchildren, Silber created a lasting positive legacy throughout her life.

Family and friends will remember the talented promo products executive in this way following her peaceful passing on Nov. 22 at the age of 79.

“There are very few people of the caliber of Dotty Silber,” reflected Lew Ginsburg, a retired promo pro who was formerly an executive with distributorship Cyrk Inc. and previously an owner of distributor Marketing Incentives. “She commanded a lot of respect, and she was very good at what she did. She was a good friend.”

Born Dorothy Gail Andler in Nashua, NH, Dotty, as she was known, graduated from Lasell College. She went on to found Double-Oh-Seven, Ltd., a promo distributorship for which she also served as president.

Over the years, Silber earned several Pyramid Awards from industry trade group Promotional Products Association International (PPAI). She also served on the board of directors of the New England Promotional Products Association and served with PPAI, according to an obituary.

Silber’s interests and activities extended well beyond promo.

She was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, and had been a member of the New Hampshire-based St. Joseph Hospital’s committee on women’s community health. Silber’s do-gooding also included serving on the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Nashua and the nonprofit Against All Odds. An arts lover, Silber was on the Board of Directors of Nashua’s International Sculpture Symposium and hosted sculptors in her home.

Ever an entrepreneur at heart, Silber applied her business-building acumen beyond promo. With her son, Ken, she was an owner and the chief financial officer of Boulder Morty’s, an indoor rock-climbing gym.

A woman of faith, Silber was a member Temple Beth Abraham in Nashua. She enjoyed traveling, especially to small islands in the Caribbean where she and her late husband of 39 years, Allan B. Silber, enjoyed collecting seashells, sea glass, sea beans and more.

While she was also a gardener, there was no doubt what Silber loved most. “The accomplishment she was most proud of was her role of Bubbe to her grandchildren,” an obituary read.

Silber’s survivors include two sons, Ken and his wife Alice Silber, of Exeter, NH, and Andy of Taneytown, MD; son-in-law Bob Pilbro; granddaughters, Tara Silber, Chloe Stary, Katelyn and Leanne Pilbro; grandsons, Evan Silber, Christopher and Kyle Maloney; two sisters, Joan Shechet of Danvers, MA, and Amy Cohen and her husband Barry of Hull, MA; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as several very close friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shari Pilbro, in 2022.

Services were held Nov. 27. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Nashua Art Symposium.

“Grace, humor and love surrounded Dotty,” wrote Sarah and David Roche in an online reflection on Silber. “She brought so much joy to all who had the good fortune of knowing her. You will be missed, my friend.”
