Overture Promotions Earns EcoVadis Silver Ranking
The Top 40 distributor has launched several sustainability and social responsibility initiatives in the last year.
Top 40 distributor Overture Promotions (asi/288473) received a Silver rating on its most recent EcoVadis audit, improving on its 2022 Bronze rating.
EcoVadis is a globally recognized assessment platform that rates businesses’ sustainability based on four key categories: environmental impact, labor and human rights standards, ethics, and procurement practices. Overture is in the 88th percentile of audited companies.
“Overture’s employees and leadership are passionate about doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Jo Gilley, CEO of Overture and a member of Counselor’s Power 50 list of the most influential people in the promo industry. “The improvement in our EcoVadis rating is tangible evidence that we are making good progress and gives us a roadmap to get to a Gold rating.”
In the past year, Overture has implemented a series of sustainability initiatives as part of its overall corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, including joining the United Nations Global Compact, a global network of more than 15,000 companies committed to building a sustainable future. Additionally, Overture plants a tree with every order over $20, in partnership with Ecologi. In the first year of the carbon offset initiative, Overture said it’s had 62,000 trees planted.
Another CSR initiative was the development of a diversity, equity and inclusion-focused “Viewpoint With Dennis Quaid” episode, which aired earlier this year and was distributed to more than 170 public television stations in the United States, reaching 60 million households.
Most recently, the distributor has launched Overture Women Leaders, or OWL, with a mission to develop women leaders, providing training so that all of the company’s women employees are equipped for career planning and progression. OWL includes a monthly lunchtime training session, supplemented with one online course per month, along with coaching and mentoring by experienced managers.
“OWL has been a dream of mine for several years, and I’m thrilled that our training team has launched it,” said Gilley.
In a rollout meeting with employees, Gilley said, workers were asked to rank 14 potential training topics: The top three choices were financial fluency, decision-making and building self-confidence. OWL’s first lunchtime training session will be led by Nancy Doyle, a consultant, author, speaker and financial literacy advocate who has 30 years of experience in investments and wealth management.
A certified minority-owned and woman-led distributor, Overture ranked 22nd on Counselor’s list of the top distributors in the industry, with 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $121.1 million.
