The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall on wind-up musical plush toys because they pose a choking threat to young children. According to the CPSC, Carter’s, Child of Mine, Guess How Much I Love You and Just One You brand toys feature a metal post and/or handle of the wind-up mechanism that can detach, becoming a choking hazard. “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled toys (and) take them away from young children,” the CPSC said in a statement.

Manufactured in China, the toys were imported and distributed by Kids Preferred LLC of East Windsor, NJ. From January 2016 through August 2017, approximately 587,000 of the toys sold in the United States at Carter’s, Target, Walmart and other stores nationwide and online. No ASI-listed companies were named in the recall.

So far, Kids Preferred has received six reports of parts from the wind-up handle detaching from the toys, but no injuries have been reported. The toys sold in a variety of animal characters and colors that the CPSC details here.
