Geiger’s ‘#Promoyoga’ Motivates Employees, Supports Veterans
Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) is eager to stretch its success – and that of its clients – to new heights. The Lewiston, ME-based firm commenced that initiative for the fast-approaching new year with some literal stretching that Geiger executives say set an industry record – and supported a great cause.
Nearly 100 Geiger employees participated in a single outdoor yoga session – the largest number of employees from a promo company to take part in such a single event, Geiger said. The #Promoyoga initiative was part of a kickoff to Geiger’s 2019 business planning season that also saw all the distributor’s employees engaging in motivational workshops.
Dan Nevins led the Geiger group in the yoga. Nevins is a highly decorated military veteran who lost both his legs below the knees while serving in Iraq in 2004. The life-changing injuries were the result of an IED detonating below the vehicle in which he was riding. Now a successful motivational speaker and yoga instructor, Nevins shared his inspiring life story with all of Geiger’s more than 400 employees before leading the yoga session.
“Dan challenged us to stretch longer and go further than we thought possible. We learned firsthand that we are stronger together,” said Jo-an Lantz, incoming Geiger President. “His personal struggles and outstanding achievements help to put other life and business challenges into true perspective. He taught us what we do makes a huge difference. It was an honor to have Dan play this important role as we plan for the future.”
As part of the #Promoyoga initiative, Geiger also provided a donation to Warrior Spirit Retreat, a planned holistic center in Florida that will teach yoga, mindfulness, meditation and more free of charge to veterans and their families. Additionally, Geiger sought to extend the #Promoyoga campaign by challenging PPAI, ASI, Top 40 supplier Sweda Co. (asi/90305), and other industry business employees to participate in a yoga session and donate to warriorspiritretreat.org.
