Counselor Top 40 distributor HALO Branded Solutions (asi/356000) has released its annual environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, highlighting that it’s on track to meet its 2030 near-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction target.
“HALO’s sustainability journey reflects our corporate ethos of accountability to our key stakeholders, the communities in which we operate and the recognition of the global reach of the products and services we provide,” CEO Marc Simon said in the report’s opening letter.
HALO’s near-term emissions reduction targets were recently validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a globally recognized framework for emissions reporting and reduction goals. The distributor is on track to meet its 2030 near-term targets, which are measured from a 2019 baseline.
When it comes to giving back, HALO noted that it had funded 526 volunteer hours last year, a 50% increase from 2023. Plus, the distributor provided $235,000 in charitable donations in 2024.
Also of note, HALO published Conscious Choices, a collection of products that are offered to clients fully certified as carbon offset on each purchase, including shipping. Using the FTC Green Guides as a benchmark, HALO worked with preferred suppliers, internal teams and sustainability consultants to launch the catalog, which clearly outlines what makes a product sustainable, whether it’s the material composition, how it’s manufactured, philanthropic mission or other factors.
“Calculating carbon on a per-product, per-order basis is amazingly complicated,” said Terry McGuire, HALO senior vice president of supplier relations & sustainability. “It took our team several months to use an ISO-certified methodology to calculate the carbon footprint and purchase quality carbon offsets for each purchase. The market response has exceeded our expectations, so we plan to continue expanding the product selection.”
With more than 1,900 employees in 42 global offices, HALO caters to a list of clients that includes more than 135 of the Fortune 500, as well as thousands of small and midsize organizations. Based on reported 2023 North American promotional product revenue of $937.7 million, HALO ranked second on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry. The new list is due out this month.
