The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in conjunction with Health Canada, has issued an official recall for girls’ infant snowsuits, made in China and imported by The Children’s Place Services Company LLC, in Secaucus, NJ. The metal snaps on the snowsuit can detach, causing a potential choking hazard for children. While The Children’s Place has received one report of a metal snap detaching, no injuries have yet been reported.

Approximately 14,900 pieces were sold in the US, and 750 in Canada, at The Children’s Place stores and online at www.childrensplace.com from August 2018 through November 2018 for about $50.

The snowsuits range in size from 0 to 18 months, and were sold in two styles (2111187 and 2111188, printed on a label sewn into the side seam) and three patterns: white with colorful flowers; pink with red ladybugs; and pale pink with heart stitching on the sleeves. Each is 100% polyester with trim made of 95% polyester and 5% spandex, and has a matching print hood with small ears, detachable mittens and full-front zipper covered with a fabric snap flap.

“Consumers should immediately take the recalled snowsuits away from children, stop using them and return them to any The Children’s Place store for a full refund,” stated the CPSC in the official recall. “Online customers will receive return instructions by email from The Children’s Place on obtaining a full refund.”
