Health Canada has issued an official recall for Obaïbi brand sleepwear, sold by Montreal-based Okaïdi Canada Inc. The pajamas fail to meet Canada’s flammability standards after being put through a sampling and evaluation process.

If the garments come into contact with an ignition source, they could burn rapidly and cause severe injury. As of this writing, no injuries have been reported.

The “sleeper” style pajamas, all made of velvet with different colors and designs, were manufactured in China. A total of six model numbers, in sizes 6 months and up, are under recall: 89836, 89855, 89867, 89874, 89879 and 89880. The model number can be found on the front of the label sewn into the body of the garment.

An estimated 220 sets were sold by Okaïdi Canada from December 2018 through March 2019. “Consumers should immediately stop allowing children to wear the recalled sleepwear,” states Health Canada in the official recall, “and return the items to an Okaïdi or Obaïbi store for refund or exchange for an equivalent product.” A list of stores can be found here.
