Decorating Roundup: Epson Releases Compact Hybrid DTG Printer
The entry-level printer can also handle direct-to-film printing.
The latest equipment release from Epson features a compact design with transparent viewing panels, allowing decorators – and their customers – watch as garments and other goods are printed.
The SureColor F1070 direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film hybrid printer is an entry-level printer that combines outstanding image quality, easy operation and flexible performance in a space-saving package, according to Epson.
“Traditionally, DTG printers have been designed for professional print shops – larger models that are difficult for smaller, entry-level artisans to obtain and integrate into their existing workflows,” said Lily Hunter, product manager for professional imaging at Epson. “Epson has taken the best of its DTG technology and distilled it into this compact, cost-effective printer, ideal for entrepreneurs and creative professionals looking to bring their unique designs to life.”
Features of the new printer include automatic garment-height adjustment with the ability to print on a variety of fabrics up to 1 inch thick, a cartridge-free ink pack system that reduces ink-replacement frequency, UltraChrome DG2 ink with CMYK+Wh to ensure vibrant colors, an intuitive touchscreen menu and an automated fabric head wiper system.
The printer allows distributors and decorators to print on T-shirts and custom products, including those with unique shapes.
“The new compact SureColor hybrid DTG printer is designed to create new opportunities for businesses, giving them the ability to break into the garment-decorating market,” Hunter said.
The new Epson DTG printer will be available for preorders in February and begins shipping to customers in May through authorized resellers.
Roland DGA Resin Ink Earns ECOLOGO Certification
Roland DGA, a provider of wide-format inkjet printers, vinyl cutters and other digital imaging technology, announced that TA resin ink for its TrueVIS AP-640 resin/latex printer has acquired ECOLOGO certification.
ECOLOGO certification is a standard approved UL, a third-party organization dedicated to advancing global sustainability, environmental health and safety by supporting the growth and development of environmentally preferable products, services and organizations. The scientific testing and review, UL certifies that products comply with strict lifecycle-based environmental performance standards and have a low impact on the environment and human health.
The AP-640 is ideal for a variety of applications, including wallpaper, fine art, fabric banners and car wraps.
“We are very pleased, but not surprised, that the AP-640 printer’s TA resin ink has met UL Lab’s stringent requirements for ECOLOGO certification,” said Daniel Valade, product manager of digital print for Roland DGA. “The AP-640 is one of those rare inkjets capable of quickly delivering output that’s not only incredibly detailed and vibrant, but also environmentally friendly. That’s a powerful combination, especially for those who intend on using AP-640-produced prints in indoor settings.”
