Promotions Planner: Summertime Adventures
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on June observances.
Summer is just around the corner, and popular observances in June encourage people to head outside and have fun. Approach local parks, restaurants, corporate offices, healthcare facilities and insurance agencies with promotional product campaign ideas centered on these events.
June 3/National Trails Day
Each year, the American Hiking Society hosts National Trails Day – an observance meant to promote hiking and trail conservation. The Society encourages people to host local events, pledge to protect outdoor spaces and engage on social media.
PITCH: Suggest to local parks that they host hiking events this day and distribute T-shirts for volunteers and participants.
June 10/National Rosé Day
This day celebrates rosé, a pink wine made with red grape skins. While it’s an old wine – created with a technique that involves pressing grapes soon after harvesting – it’s grown in popularity in recent years, with T-shirt messages like “Rosé all day” and “Stop and smell the rosé.”
PITCH: Talk to bars about signage for special-edition drinks made with rosé (like frosé) and restaurants about branded totes for the first 50 people who make reservations.
June 23/National Take Your Dog to Work Day
Hosted by Pet Sitters International, this observance encourages businesses to allow employees to bring their pooches to the office. Pet-friendly businesses can boost employee engagement by organizing a day of fun and giving out branded pet items.
PITCH: Encourage companies of all sizes to welcome dogs this day and gift owners and pups with logoed products they’ll both enjoy.
June 27/National Sunglasses Day
The Vision Council, an eyesight health advocacy organization, presents this yearly summer observance to raise awareness about the importance of wearing sunglasses to protect eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.
PITCH: Approach optometrists, ophthalmologists and other healthcare facilities with branded sunglasses – featuring UVA/UVB sun protection – to distribute this week.
June 28/National Insurance Awareness Day
This annual observance from the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, a national trade organization, serves to remind people of the value of insurance. It’s an ideal opportunity for agents to encourage clients to make sure they’re not underinsured.
PITCH: Create direct-mail bundles for agents that include brochures, business cards, notepads and pens with contact information.
