Promotional T-Shirt Serves As A Reward In UFC Anti-Doping Campaign
A screen-printed T-Shirt is playing an important part in a campaign to combat doping in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) – the popular professional mixed-martial arts competition.
This week, the UFC and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced that UFC athletes who complete 25 consecutive clean drug tests will receive a special branded T-Shirt that bears the image “25X.” Featuring the slogan, “Train Clean. Fight Clean.,” the shirts recognize the dedication and hard work of the athletes in the UFC Anti-Doping Program, which launched in 2015. The USADA administers the tests for performance enhancing drugs and the like. So far, more than 6,000 tests have been given to the UFC’s competing athletes.
At launch this week, 19 UFC fighters had achieved the milestone of 25 straight clean tests. They include UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos and UFC women’s strawweight Tecia Torres. Check out Alvarez wearing the shirt in this video, where he briefly explains why testing is essential:

Each month going forward, the USADA will recognize athletes who reach the threshold of 25 straight dope-free tests. Fighters will, of course, get the “25X” tee. Beyond recognizing deserving athletes, the T-Shirts will also help spread the important anti-doping message to impressionable kids and teenagers who admire their UFC heroes. That’s a knockout for the good guys in our book. Learn more about the anti-doping initiative here and check it out on Twitter here.
