AHEAD Adds 5 Cap Decoration Techniques
Headwear and apparel supplier AHEAD (asi/33220) has added five new hat decoration techniques for spring 2020, several of which were designed specifically to ornament cotton caps.
“When it comes to cotton headwear, customers tend to be more set in their ways,” said Chuck Lord, chief creative officer of AHEAD. “Many golfers, for example, like their cotton headwear solid-colored.”
Three of AHEAD’s new decoration techniques – the Cambridge, Greenwich and Chatham – take those preferences into consideration, while still giving “cotton something to boast about,” Lord said.
The Cambridge consists of a small, preppy patch with a white border. It’s a traditional, yet sporty way to wear a club logo, whether on the golf course, tennis court or in everyday settings, according to AHEAD. The patches are produced on special machines in AHEAD’s Massachusetts headquarters.
The Greenwich is an evolution of AHEAD’s popular Rust “cattle brand” faux-suede brown patches. The Greenwich features a full-color printed logo on bone-colored faux suede, layered on a second, colorful piece of faux suede as an accent. It’s best suited for lightweight cotton headwear.
The Chatham brings the look of needlepoint to headwear, offering a simple look best suited for soft crown cotton caps. “We’ve combined the look of needlepoint with the automation of our embroidery machines to capture this hot look, all the while at an affordable price,” Lord said.
The Venice, a “surf-meets-sand” look, features a trendy raised patch with a border. The Hyannis uses humble, understated graphics, emphasizing a simple, conservative embroidered namedrop.
AHEAD’s entire Spring 2020 lineup of headwear, apparel and accessories is available online.
